AFTERCARE
Day of the Treatment
The treated area may have a warm hint (orange or too brown). This is due to the modification of the pigment and will heal to be the discussed color. The warm hint will go away within 24 hours and brows will start to seem darker than expected. The area will be a bit sore but not unbearable. The healing cream will be applied on the first night and will continue to be applied every morning and night for a week.
Days 1-7
Area will seem bold and dark. DO NOT WORRY! The healing cream will be applied morning and night for these seven days. You will disperse a small amount to the area without leaving clumps. LESS IS MORE!
The three most important healing tips for the best retention are:
NO SUN
NO WATER
NO PICKING
Permanent makeup are procedures where skin will be broken superficially for the pigment to reach the correct layer of skin. This means the area is an OPEN WOUND and exposure to the sun can cause scar tissue during the first week.
Clients often ask how they are supposed to shower or wash their face if they cannot get the area wet. While getting them wet during the first week can cause some retention loss, we are all human and that is why we have a touch up visit 6 weeks later!
When showering, avoid cleansing the area and avoid the direct shower stream. If water drips over the area while washing your hair, don’t fret, just blot dry with a clean towel when you’re done with the shower. NO RUBBING. Make sure you are gently blotting to dry the area.
While working out during the first week, wear a sweat band in the hairline to avoid sweat dripping into the area and be mindful to not aggressively wipe the area with a towel or your arm to remove the sweat.
Avoid all products on and around the procedure site for the first week (moisturizers, retinols, skin care, makeup, makeup remover, sunscreen). Only use the healing cream morning and night.
DAys 7-14
During the first few days of this period (days 7-10), you will notice some flaking within the area. DON’T PICK THE FLAKES! Keep using the healing cream for dryness.
Some areas the pigment may seem non existent or lighter than you planned. Totally normal! For a period of time during the healing process the color lightens/disappears and then returns for the final result.
Once the flaking has ended, you may start to fill in the area with powder or makeup to cover any light spots. Sunscreen and facial products can be applied as well.
Remember, with the proper prep and aftercare routine you will have much better results with your permanent makeup procedure.
Permanent makeup is truly a two-step process which is why there is always a follow up appointment to fill in any spots that did not hold.
Important Reminders:
Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.
No facials, botox, brow tint or wax, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 2 weeks.
Avoid any sweat and exercise for duration of healing process if possible.
Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for at least 10 days after procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.
Avoid long hot showers and saunas for the first 10 days.
Avoid dunking your head under any body of water for the first 10 days (pool, ocean, hot tub).
Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area for the first week.
DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area.
