Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Microblading or permanent makeup last?

Permanent makeup lasts anywhere from 1-2 years. It depends on the color of pigment used as well as the clients skin conditions. There are also environmental factors such as sun exposure and skincare. The harsher skincare and longer exposure to the sun will make the pigment fade quicker. Also, using a light color as opposed to a darker color will have quicker visible fading. Although you will begin to see fading at the 1-2 year mark, you will most likely see a faded shadow of the pigment for 5+ years. The faded shadow will be the same color, but much lighter.

Is there any downtime?

With permanent makeup, there is not much downtime or need to hide away after the treatments. Redness and swelling may happen but goes away within a few hours for brow and eyeliner treatments. Eyeliner could cause some bruising and swelling for 2-3 days. All procedure areas will appear darker in color during healing week. Please remember, your first three days will be the darkest, it will begin to fade after the first three days. After seven days or so, flaking will occur. You will then be left with a nice healed brow after the flaking process is over.

Are there any restrictions during healing?

It is best to keep the treated area clean and dry. Aftercare instructions and healing cream will be given to you at the time of service. Please reference the "aftercare" tab for further details on healing.

ARE TOUCH UP APPOINTMENTS REQUIRED FOR MICROBLADING and permanent makeup?

Yes, a touch up is required 4-6 weeks after the initial visit. Microblading and permanent makeup are usually a multiple session process. Certain areas may not pick up during the first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment color may need to be adjusted, thickness, etc. Your touch-up session is when we perfect the area to ensure it quality for the entire year.

MY permanent makeup is DONE HEALING BUT IT IS PATCHY. (IS THIS NORMAL?)

Yes, the area is healed superficially and may have a few areas where the color did not retain. We will touch them up at your 4-6 week visit. Permanent makeup is truly a two-step process.

IS permanent makeup PAINFUL?

Topical numbing is used throughout the procedures to keep you comfortable. Most clients say it feels/sounds like small scratches, however can vary between each client and their pain tolerance. The first 25 minutes of the appointment is used for numbing. Another type of topical numbing is used once the procedure begins.

WHAT ARE PIGMENTS MADE OF?

Cosmetic tattoo pigments vary depending on the brand but are generally formulated with iron oxide, an ingredient safe on skin. All pigment suppliers are required to list their ingredients on their labels if you’re concerned about allergies (rare). Keep in mind that people can develop allergies to anything, anytime. All pigments are vegan and cruelty free. I use a brand called PermaBlend Pigments.
